HSMP Forum takes further legal action against Home Office
The HSMP Forum has commenced further legal action against the Home Office for not fully complying with the recent High Court ruling. The HSMP Forum earlier wrote to the Border and Immigration Agency (BIA) and the Immigration Minister to reverse the indefinite leave to remain (ILR) qualifying criteria changes made in April 2006 in light of the recent high court judgment but this was declined. more...

Gyani Gurbachan Singh was installed as the jathedar of the Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat) on Thursday last. He had been confirmed on this highest position of Sikh religion after his predecessor, Gyani Joginder Singh Vedanti resigned from his post on Tuesday, 5th August. Islamabad: Pressure piled up on Pakistan's embattled President Pervez Musharraf to step down, with a second provincial assembly on Tuesday passing a resolution with an overwhelming majority asking him to seek a vote of confidence from parliament. The resolution passed in the North West Frontier Province assembly said Musharraf should resign if he failed to take a confidence vote, further proposing that the President be impeached if he did not resign. more...

Tesco to enter India with cash- and- carry, Tata deal
Tesco, the world's No.3 retailer, said it plans to enter India by setting up a wholesale cash-and-carry business and helping Indian conglomerate Tata Group to grow its hypermarket business.

Good times for India's indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) 'Dhruv' have just begun, with bluechip HAL beating competition to strike a deal with Turkey to supply three of the helicopters by this year-end.
A month after striking a USD 51-million deal to supply seven Dhruvs to South America's Ecuador, India won the contract in Turkey to first lease out two ALHs for five years and later supply one more of the aircraft, but all before December this year, top HAL officials said on Monday. more...
